📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:

Once you’ve created appointment types and set calendar availability, the final step is to customize the design. (Acuity also makes it easy with step-by-step instructions with an easy-to-navigate design that tells you how complete a scheduling page is.) The design comes pre-packaged, but you can customize the text to say anything you want, with different font and color palette options. You can use one of dozens of color presets, or create your own color palette from a specific color or image. I thought the pre-made boards were well designed and had a lot of options, so I decided to go with something a little bolder and more charming to match my small business vibe.

Once you complete the seven-day trial, you’ll choose one of four Acuity plans. there beginningwhich starts at $20 per month, is the basic option, with client self-scheduling, unlimited services and appointments, one bookable calendar, payment processing through Stripe, Square, or PayPal, client emails, and automatic time zone conversion for clients. the standard The next plan, priced at $34 per month, includes the above features, plus up to 6 bookable calendars, text message reminders, bulk appointment packages, memberships and subscriptions with automated billing, and the ability to sell and process gift certificates. the beloved The tier is priced at $61 per month and includes all of the above features, plus it will remove the “Powered by Acuity” line on the scheduling page, BAA signing for HIPAA compliance, up to 36 bookable calendars, multiple time zones, and a custom API and CSS for developers. This plan is probably best if you run a larger company with many employees. All plans are 20 percent off when paid annually rather than monthly. There’s also a custom enterprise option, which allows you to create “customized solutions for your organization’s business.” You’ll need to contact Acuity for pricing and setup. All plans are 20 percent off when paid annually rather than monthly, and promo code WIRED20 gives you 20 percent off new Acuity Business subscriptions.

User experience

Before I took my first business baby out into the world, I wanted to start with friends and colleagues to get feedback on their user experience from the other side.

The consensus was pretty much the same: my personal website looked great, was fun to explore, and everyone found it easy to book, cancel, and reschedule (without me having to do anything!). Additionally, I received email notifications that people had booked, rescheduled, or canceled their reservation in real time, and they received appointment confirmation and reminders as well. The only potential issues were from a design standpoint, which was bad for me and not Acuity’s problem. I learned that people like customization, so I went back and added a photo of myself, service-related photos where possible, and more personalization.
