Hibernian: After ‘big win’, can David Gray’s side be ‘mixed’ at the top?

It was the first time Hibs had won back-to-back league games since early November and only the third time overall this season.

Clearly consistency must improve if they are to move up from fifth place.

There is a feeling that Hibs have not made the most of their good play when at the top of the game this season, which has been marked by a string of draws in the opening months.

But fundamentally, when you analyze this Hibs squad, they have the raw ingredients to take off.

Only Hearts have scored more league goals than Hibs and only Celtic have a higher expected goals rating. Gray’s team also ranks second in terms of shots on target, which shows he creates a lot.

In terms of firepower, Hibs have plenty of it. Kieron Bowie has seven league goals, Jamie McGrath six, and Martin Boyle five.

Despite missing Boyle through illness and losing Boyle to injury during the first half, they still found a way past Aberdeen.

Record holder Thibaut Claidi scored his third league goal of the season, as did Junior Hoilett, who came on as a substitute.

In midfield, Josh Mulligan was one of the standouts in the Premier League and was involved in both goals against Aberdeen, while their defense relies on a three-man squad.
