Britain’s Emma Raducano will have to return to the court on Wednesday after her first-round match against Camila Osorio at the Hobart International was halted due to rain.
Raducano, who is seeking her first win in the 2026 season, led her Colombian opponent 6-3, 2-4 when play was stopped.
It was a back-and-forth match, with both players enduring windy conditions and Osorio suffering from a persistent cough.
The first three games of the first set went on serve before Raducano rallied to take the lead in the opener in just 45 minutes against her wildcard opponent.
World number 82 Osorio found another strength in the second set, hitting four winners in the first game and using her choppy backhand to break Raducano’s serve.
After a 30-minute break, the players returned to the field and got just two points before the heavy rain returned.
Raducano, whose offseason was disrupted by a foot injury, is playing in her last tournament before the Australian Open begins on Sunday.
Polish Magdalena Frisch, who easily won 6-4, 6-0 over Frenchwoman Elsa Jacquemot earlier today, awaits either Raducanu or Osorio in the quarter-finals.
