Honor says its robotic camera phone can dance to music

Honor first teased its “robot phone” with a moving camera arm earlier this year. Ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, ​​the Chinese company provided more details about the device, including how the robot can respond to different situations without commands. The company said that it plans to launch this device in the second half of this year.

Honor said the robot also has a “personality” and can respond to you by “shaking the head” and can also dance to the beat of the music. The company indicated that users can talk to the assistant over the phone through text and voice messages. Honor showed a video of a person asking for clothing suggestions, and the robot nods or shakes to suggest an outfit.

The phone has a 200-megapixel camera on a three-axis mobile robot with stabilization technology. The company said the camera can rotate smoothly and capture smooth videos and photos. It also has a Super Steady mode for video capture. The company said that the phone can obtain cinematic shots through the Spinshot feature, which makes the robot’s camera rotate 90 or 180 degrees.

The robotic camera also allows for more flexible video calls that can track you with AI-powered object tracking. The technology is like Apple Center Stage on steroids if it works.

The company said it has developed its own small motor to control robotic camera movements. She indicated that she used some of the techniques used in foldable phones to make the camera more powerful and suitable for the four-degree-of-freedom gimbal system in the phone’s body. Honor said it uses the same materials used to manufacture the robotic arm as the Honor Magic V6 hinge, with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa.

Honor also launched the Honor Magic V6 foldable device with a 6,600 mAh battery, the Honor MagicPad 4 tablet, and the Honor MagicBook 14 laptop at its event.
