📌 **What You’ll Learn**:

This is the first title this year for Sinner, whose Australian Open title defense was ended by Djokovic in a thrilling five-set semi-final in January.

Sinner also improved his record in direct confrontations against Medvedev, having won nine of their last 10 encounters.

Despite the loss, Medvedev will return to the top 10 when the rankings are updated on Monday.

The former US Open champion almost missed the tournament, after she was stuck in Dubai due to the conflict in the Middle East.

After arriving in the United States, Medvedev showed why he had previously been at the top of the men’s game, with an impressive semi-final victory over world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

However, it was Sinner who overcame the tough moments on Sunday, helped by his powerful serve.

Sinner won 43 of 47 points on his first serve, hit 10 aces and won 60% of the points behind his second serve to remain in control of the match.

Medvedev saved only two break points in the final and came close to forcing a third set when he led 4-0 in the tie-break.

However, Sinner took seven straight points to close out the match and win back-to-back Masters 1000 titles without dropping a set.

Elsewhere, world number three Djokovic withdrew from the Miami Open this week due to injury.

The Serbian player won the title six times and finished second to Jakub Mencic last year.

However, the 24-time Grand Slam champion said a right shoulder injury prevented him from competing in the hardcourt tournament, which begins on Monday.
