📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:
Farrell scored 10 tries in 25 matches for Munster last season, enough to earn him the county’s player of the year award, and he impressed in last month’s United Rugby Championship win over Leinster at Croke Park.
The Dublin player, who signed a new contract with Munster last month, added: “I was very close to going abroad and then this opportunity came up and then I had a couple of injuries and some different situations happened in Munster where I played some games.”
“I’ve been able to get back to good form and my form has gone from strength to strength last year.
He added: “Fortunately, this year I was again able to participate in the second and third rounds of the league, just before the selection of the Ireland squad, and that was probably to my advantage as well.”
Farrell missed out on his debut under Joe Schmidt six years ago, but having established himself as a midfield option for Farrell, he is determined to make the most of his opportunity.
“The last time I was in camp was in 2019, and I probably let the opportunity pass me by a little bit,” he admitted.
“I may not have been prepared for the intensity and demands of international rugby and the opportunity may have eluded me.
“But once I got the nod two weeks ago, I was pretty determined to make my mark, basically. I wasn’t perfect today, but there are some good things there.”
