Ireland vs South Africa: Ringrose and Van der Flier are available again but McCloskey has been ruled out

Irish pair Gary Ringrose and Josh van der Flier are both available for Saturday’s test against world champions South Africa, but Stuart McCluskey has been ruled out of the match through injury.

Ringrose center and back row Van der Vlier have both recovered from a hamstring strain in time to be available for selection for the Aviva Stadium encounter with the Springboks after missing the 46-19 win over Australia.

McCloskey is out with a recurrence of a groin injury which saw him retire hurt after 27 minutes of the weekend’s win over the Wallabies, with Bundee Aki introduced as his replacement in midfield.

The Ulster center was initially forced to miss the 41-10 win over Japan after suffering a groin problem during the loss to New Zealand on November 1 which kicked off the Irish autumn campaign.

Meanwhile, Leinster’s Thomas Clarkson has passed all head injury assessment (HIA) protocols and is set to train fully this week ahead of Dublin’s clash with the world number one ranked side.
