💡 Main takeaway:

The tournament begins in Australia – which will launch its 2026 schedule even though we are still in 2025 – just 15 days after Yol, from King’s Lynn, finished 12th in qualifying in Spain, with 20 places up for grabs on the tour.

His performance on the Clutch Pro Tour earned him an exemption from the second of three stages and he made rounds of 67, 66, 70 and 69 to finish fifth in Albacete.

The final stage was played over six rounds in Tarragona and his hopes suffered a setback when he scored a 74 in the second after an opening 68.

Yule showed his determination by shooting 66, 69 and 67 before finishing in style with his best round of the week, a 65.

Players who missed out on full playing rights include former tour winners Mark Warne, Chris Wood, Alexandre Levy and David Horsey.

“I try not to look at the leaderboards and play my own game, and it was good enough,” said Yule, who only learned of his success when he attended an interview after the final round.

“The first person I called was one of my sponsors because I had a missed call [from him] – I didn’t even sign my card and he already called me.

“Then I talked to my father and I burst into tears of relief. We had a good conversation and cried together. It was beautiful.”
