📌 Main takeaway:

Anthony Joshua weighed almost two stone heavier than Jake Paul in their controversial heavyweight bout on Friday as part of an unusual stipulation.

Heavyweights do not normally need to make weight, but Joshua was required to weigh 17 pounds (111 kg), reflecting the gap in experience between the two fighters.

He tipped the scales at 17 5 lbs (110 kg), and Paul weighed 15 7 lbs (98 kg).

The pair will compete in an eight-round professional bout, using 10-ounce gloves, at the Cascia Center in Miami.

A modest formal weigh-in, open only to the media, took place Thursday morning in the conference room of the Fontainebleau Hotel. A ceremonial weigh-in is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Paul calmly stepped onto the scales before launching into a short, animated and somewhat awkward tirade.

“Do you know who I am? I’m him,” he shouted, eyes wide, pointing toward the assembled media.

This was Paul’s heaviest weight on record, three pounds more than his fight against Mike Tyson last year.
