Jalen Rose’s daughter strongly defends Jalen Brunson with frank statement about nepotism

Maria Rose, the daughter of former NBA star Jalen Rose, strongly defended New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson on Friday. The digital creator defended Brunson while discussing nepotism in the NBA and provided a frank statement.

She shared her opinions via a video clip, and posted the clip on the X website (formerly Twitter).

Rose commented on the post, saying: “Are light-skinned Nebo kids ruining the NBA?”

In the video, Rose acknowledged the broader narrative surrounding the league, but made clear that Brunson should not be included in that conversation.

“Look, I know the NBA isn’t the same anymore,” Rose said. “But when you start talking about Nebo kids ruining the NBA, the NBA is so weak.”

“I don’t want to hear a peep about Jalen Brunson.”

She continued to take a stand in favor of Brunson, claiming that the Knicks guard is in no way weak, despite being an unwanted child.

“Jalen Brunson is not nice, and he is an illegitimate child,” Rose continued. “But it’s not soft.”

“You know how hard it is to be a short guy in the NBA… playing against seven-footers and trying to get past them and stuff like that. Are you kidding me? Jalen Brunson’s been doing that his whole life.”

Rose’s impassioned defense comes amid growing scrutiny about nepotism in the NBA. Brunson, the son of former NBA player Rick Brunson, is among many second-generation players in the league and has faced criticism associated with that designation.

While his background may have contributed to his exposure to the game, his production and on-court leadership with the Knicks confirm that his place in the NBA is backed as much by performance as by pedigree.

“Jalen Brunson. 7,000 points as a member of the Knicks 🔥,” the NBA captioned the post. “He accomplished this feat in just 265 games, the fewest games to reach 7,000 points in franchise history!”

Brunson hit the mark during New York’s 127-98 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
