James Milner: Who is the most involved in the English Premier League?

Milner played for six clubs in the English Premier League: Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Leeds United, and the current team, Brighton & Hove Albion.

That was where Milner made his name at boyhood club Leeds, where he became the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League when he made his debut against West Ham aged 16 years and 309 days.

He also spent time at Third Division Swindon Town on loan, scoring two goals in a short spell of six matches.

Following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship, Milner moved to Newcastle, before later moving to Villa Park in a £12m deal.

His form at Aston Villa caught the attention of England and Milner was called up for the first time by Fabio Capello for a friendly match against the Netherlands.

Manchester City had gained a reputation as a versatile option in midfield, bringing Milner to the club – winning the FA Cup in his first season and the Premier League the following year.

Then came the bulk of his appearances at Liverpool – where he moved on a free transfer in 2015 – where he made 230 appearances under Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.

Milner’s greatest triumph came when Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019 and a year later he played a key role in helping the club win the Premier League – the Reds’ first league title in 30 years.
