Manager David Martindale said Livingston had written to the Scottish Football Association about an alleged racist comment he made to striker Jeremy Bukela during their defeat by Aberdeen on Saturday.

Martindale said after the match that the 37-year-old was crying in the changing room after a comment he made to him on the pitch during the 6-2 loss to Pittodrie.

The former Democratic Republic of Congo striker was sent off after a second-half brawl between players.

“There was an incident. I think the incident is now with the Saudi Sports for All Federation, and that’s all I can enlighten you to the best of my knowledge,” Martindale said on Wednesday.

“I think Bukela spoke to the club secretary. I don’t know more than that.

“I understand that the incident has been referred to the Scottish Football Association.”

Aberdeen said in a statement after the match: “The club is aware of an allegation that racist language was used. The player in question has been informed of the allegation and he strongly denies it.”

“Aberdeen FC condemns any and all forms of discrimination and we will cooperate fully with all relevant authorities during any investigation.

“While this process continues, it would be inappropriate to comment further,” he added.
