Dan Bradbury birdied five of the last 10 holes to earn a one-stroke victory at the DP World Tour’s Joburg Open.

South Africa’s Henny du Plessis led by two shots heading into the final round at Houghton Golf Club, with Bradbury one of three players in a tie for second place.

The 26-year-old Englishman produced a strong finish to take the lead before holding his nerve in the 18th to take his third career win.

Needing a par four to clinch victory, Bradbury found himself just off the green with his second shot, but a great putt took him to within a foot of the hole and he birdied to complete a round with a five-under 65 and finished at 17 under for the total score.

That denied compatriot Brandon Robinson-Thompson and South African Casey Jarvis, who finished another shot short after each carding 66 in the final round.

“I thought I lost it on the front nine,” Bradbury said. “I had a lot of chances and didn’t take them, but it’s really good to put it together on the back nine.

“Casey and Brandon played great. It was a very close game, but I somehow managed to get it done in the end.”

This is Bradbury’s third win on the European Tour, having also won the Joburg Open in 2022 before winning the 2024 French Open.

After winning the Kenya Open and South African Open over the past two weekends, Jarvis was denied a third successive win on tour, something only Nick Faldo and the late Seve Ballesteros have been able to achieve before.

The world number 80 came agonizingly close to forcing a playoff as he nearly hit a birdie putt on 18, but Bradbury celebrated his first win in two years after finishing in the top 30 just once in his previous six events in 2026.

“I played better than I scored, so it’s great to win a tournament again,” the world number 171 said.

“I didn’t make it easy for myself, however, as I approached the landing in the rough terrain. Chipping is not my greatest strength, so I was very happy to see my putt almost fall into the hole.”
