💡 **What You’ll Learn**:
Momentum is building toward a potential heavyweight showdown between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira as the UFC explores a June 14 event at the White House.
Longtime UFC commentator John Anik noted that internal discussions point to Jones vs. Pereira as a headline choice for the proposed card. Although nothing has been finalized, the match is being treated within promotional circles as a viable centerpiece for what could be one of the most ambitious events in the company’s history.
In a recent episode of Anik and Florian PodcastHe said:
“They’re calling Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira… The ground is shaking. The rumor mill is turning. The rumblings are that this could be the headliner at the White House on Sunday, June 14. Alex Pereira has vacated the undisputed UFC light heavyweight title. That belt will be contested in Miami on April 11… But if you’re talking about striking the proverbial iron, Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira looks like it could be in the works.”

Podcast host Kenny Florian added:
“That’s what I’m talking about, man. You know, for the UFC, they want to make the biggest fight possible, especially for a historic card like this one coming up. Jon Jones has been calling for that. I think for him, he wanted to fight the biggest star out there that makes sense for him, who is in and around his weight class. I think Jon Jones wants that weight class to be at heavyweight. He’s of course the current world champion in that division and Alex Pereira is one of those guys who deserves it. Shoot him because he’s a huge, huge star.”

Pereira recently vacated the undisputed light heavyweight title. The 38-year-old Brazilian is seeking a championship title shot in the third weight division under the promotion’s banner. Jones, who retired after his win over Stipe Miocic, admitted he is in talks about a White House event.
Daniel Cormier backs Jon Jones against Alex Pereira in the historic showdown at the White House
Daniel Cormier believes a heavyweight title bout between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira would be the right title for the proposed UFC event at the White House.
Momentum around the bout increased following Pereira’s decision to vacate the UFC light heavyweight title. Jones, a former two-division champion who returned from a brief retirement last year, expressed interest in competing on the historic card.
Commenting on the potential match on his YouTube channel, Cormier said:
“When I look at everything, when I take the whole picture, I first dream, and cross my fingers, that I hope it will be between Jones and Pereira. But I also remain cautious about the idea that if it doesn’t happen, it’s someone else. And if it’s someone else, it has to be Cyril Jean, right? Because who else could it be to fight Alex Pereira? But the big news? This is massive.”
