Two-time major champion Jon Rahm says a ruling that will only award the top 10 finishers in LIV Golf events world ranking points “doesn’t seem fair.”

The World Golf Rankings (OWGR) board on Tuesday revealed its decision to award points to LIV players for the first time.

But the cutoff means it will be different from all 24 other men’s professional golf tours that are part of the OWGR where everyone who makes the cut earns points.

The OWGR board said it is limiting points to the top 10 finishers in the Saudi Arabia-funded circuit because it “recognizes that there are a number of areas where LIV Golf does not meet the eligibility criteria set by the OWGR.”

Speaking at the opening of the LIV golf season in Riyadh, Rahm said it was “fantastic to be recognized in some way” but added: “However, I don’t like the way we are not treated like any other tour.

“It seemed like the rules in place didn’t really apply to us, as only 10 of us got points.

“It doesn’t seem fair. The smaller courts that are there all year round, their players get full points.”
