✅ **What You’ll Learn**:

Jon Rahm has dropped his appeal against penalties imposed by the DP World Tour over his playing in LIV Golf conflict events, but has refused to pay the fines he owes.

Eight players last month received exemptions from the DP World Tour – formerly known as the European Tour – to participate in LIV golf events this year.

This allowed them to retain memberships and remain eligible for Ryder Cup selection.

The waiver included an agreement to pay outstanding fines believed to be in the region of £2.5 million imposed for playing in LIV events without DP World Tour permission, withdraw all outstanding appeals and accept participation in stipulated DP World Tour tournaments.

Rahm is still owed financial penalties but the Spaniard is said to be too, external Unwilling to pay them after they recently said the DP World Tour was “blackmailing players”.

The 31-year-old’s stance could put his participation in next year’s Ryder Cup in Ireland in doubt after being part of the past four European squads.

Ram’s appeal allowed the two-time major winner to continue playing and participate in the Ryder Cup win at Bethpage.

In April 2023, the Sports Resolutions Committee ruled that the DP World Tour was within its rights to impose fines and ban players who violated the rules of conflict events.
