✅ Main takeaway:
England coach Thomas Tuchel has called up Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden to his squad for next week’s World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, while Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has been called up to the first team for the first time.
Tuchel has resisted calls to include Brighton striker Danny Welbeck while attacking midfielder Jack Grealish, on loan to Everton from Manchester City, and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold are missing.
Bellingham, Alexander-Arnold’s Real Madrid teammate, was left out of Tuchel’s squad for matches in October, when the 22-year-old had just returned from shoulder surgery.
Manchester City playmaker Foden was not selected in the last three England squads, and his last international match was last March against Latvia.
Scott, 22, was part of the England squad that won the European Under-21 Championship in the summer.
He has featured in all 10 of Bournemouth’s Premier League matches this season, scoring once and helping them finish fifth in the table.
Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope, Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly and Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton returned to the squad.
Players ruled out of the recent international break include Morgan Gibbs-White, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, James Trafford and Ollie Watkins.
Tuchel will discuss his latest squad in a press conference held at 11:00 GMT on Friday.
England qualified for the 2026 World Cup by beating Latvia in October, and will host Serbia on Thursday 13 November before traveling to Albania three days later in their final Group K match.
The two matches will be their last competitive matches before next summer’s World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
