Jurgen Strand-Larsen: Crystal Palace’s reduced £48m offer for Wolves striker accepted

Wolves They have accepted a reduced bid of £48m for striker Jurgen Strand Larsen from Manchester United Crystal Palace.

Last week, the two clubs reached a preliminary agreement on a £50m deal for the Norway international to move to Selhurst Park.

All that remained was for Palace to make a written offer, and if the offer had been at the value discussed, Wolves would have accepted it.

However, as revealed by BBC Sport, the offer never arrived as Palace reported their intention to pull out of the deal, putting the deal in jeopardy.

Sources claim Palace’s decision to pause final talks is due to reservations about the overall cost of the deal, rather than concerns about the player.

The impasse in recent days has led to further doubts about the deal.

But with just over 24 hours left until the transfer window closes, Palace have now received a new bid worth £43m plus £5m in bonuses – a deal worth £2 less than their original verbal offer.

If the deal goes through, it could open the door for Jean-Philippe Mateta to complete his lengthy move to Milan.

Mattita wants to leave Selhurst Park with the Italian club leading the chase for his signature.

But Palace are unwilling to let the France international leave without a replacement.
