✅ **What You’ll Learn**:
Wolves We are open to selling striker Jurgen Strand-Larsen this month, amid interest from… Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League’s bottom side realize that allowing the 25-year-old to leave could be best for all parties, if the right deal is found.
That would include a switch to the City Ground, despite Forest being one of the teams also battling relegation from the Premier League.
Forest – who missed last season’s top scorer Chris Wood with 20 goals – are one of several clubs to have looked at Strand Larsen as an option.
Wood, who has been sidelined with a knee injury since October, underwent surgery just before Christmas, and a return date has not yet been set.
West Ham’s interest in Strand Larsen waned after they were asked for £40m, and they bought Valentin Castellanos and Pablo Felipe instead. Newcastle’s priorities are now elsewhere after they failed on a £55m bid in the summer and signed Nick Woltemade.
Forest, led by Sean Dyche, is seven points clear of the relegation zone – and 15 points behind Wolverhampton – after Tuesday’s 2-1 win over West Ham.
Arnaud Kalimuendo, Forest’s summer signing from Rennes, is set to join Frankfurt on loan with an option to buy, leaving Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoni as the club’s only strikers.
Strand Larsen has been targeted by unhappy Wolves fans this season, after scoring just one goal in the Premier League.
That’s part of the reason why Wolves are willing to let the Norway international leave, even though he only made his initial loan move from Celta Vigo permanently last July for £23m.
However, Strand Larsen is highly respected behind the scenes, where he is seen as a leader. He received internal credit for the professional manner in which he handled Newcastle’s interests and bids.
He was rewarded with a five-year contract in September after a promising debut season, in which he scored 14 goals and helped Wolves finish 16th.
Wolves’ potential relegation is a factor in Strand Larsen’s future – they only achieved their first Premier League win of the season last Saturday, at the 20th attempt, as they beat West Ham 3-0.
Strand Larsen is not expected to stay at Molineux in the Championship and selling him in January would generate a higher fee than in the summer.
