💡 Here’s what you’ll learn:
The Italian club Juventus appointed its former coach, Luciano Spalletti, as the team’s coach until the end of the current season.
The 66-year-old will replace Igor Tudor, who was sacked following the Serie A side’s defeat by Lazio on Sunday.
Tudor joined the club last March as a replacement for Thiago Motta but left seven months later at the end of an eight-match winless streak.
Spalletti led Napoli to win the Italian League title for the 2022-2023 season before taking over as coach of Italy, which failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup under the leadership of former coach Roberto Mancini.
He helped them qualify for the 2024 European Championship where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Switzerland.
However, Spalletti was sacked as Italy’s coach last June following a defeat by Norway in a World Cup qualifier, leaving the Azzurri in danger of missing the World Cup for the third time in a row.
Spalletti coached Inter Milan, Roma and Udinese in the Italian League, and won the Russian Premier League twice with Zenit St. Petersburg.
Massimo Brambilla took charge of Juventus on an interim basis during their 3-1 win over Udinese on Wednesday, leaving them seventh in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli after nine matches.
The team is ranked 25th in the Champions League league stage, having lost once and drawn twice in its first three matches.
