Keegan Bradley will never overcome America’s Ryder Cup defeat to Europe

Despite a dramatic comeback attempt on the final day, Team USA gave itself too much to do after Europe built a 5½ to 2½ lead on opening day.

“You put a lot into it, you had all this planning, and the first two days went as bad as we thought they would,” Bradley said.

Bradley was expected to play the role of player and captain but he “changed his mind” earlier this year and chose not to play for New York.

“On the first day of training, I was putting on my jersey, watching the players walking down the corridor together, and I thought to myself ‘I wish I was playing – that’s what it’s all about. “I miss everything.”

But Bradley says he made the right decision to rule himself out of selection because he was “physically exhausted” on the second day of the match.

“I didn’t think I could do both jobs,” he said.

Bradley has now lost three Ryder Cups as a player and captain, and although he’s not sure if he’ll get the opportunity again, he says he will continue to make himself available for future editions.

The next Ryder Cup will be held at Adare Manor in Ireland from September 17-19, 2027.
