Khaira El Hamraoui, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, has filed a €3.5m (£3.08m) lawsuit against the French club, claiming she was forced to leave after being attacked with an iron bar.

In November 2021, El Hamraoui was dragged from a car by two masked men who beat her on the legs with an iron rod while returning home from a group meal. The driver was her teammate Aminata Diallo.

Diallo, who was competing for the same position in the Paris Saint-Germain team with El Hamraoui, was arrested and charged with incitement to attack her teammate.

El Hamraoui has now claimed that she was the victim of “moral harassment” by some Paris Saint-Germain players after the incident.

Her lawyer, Pascal Pierre Garbarini, argued before the Paris Labor Court that Paris Saint-Germain strikers Marie Antoinette Katoto and Kadiatou Diagne refused to pass the ball to El Hamraoui during matches.

Gerbarini said that Al-Hamraoui is an “outcast” on the field, in the changing room, in the stands, and on social media channels.

“What did PSG do? Nothing!” He said.

Al-Hamrawi is demanding compensation for moral harassment, failure to fulfill security obligations, failure to prevent moral harassment, moral bias, and loss of opportunities from the French club.

However, PSG’s lawyer, Benjamin Lozier, said that El Hamraoui did not have a medical certificate certifying that he had been harassed and had not contacted PSG or the club’s staff board about it.

The court is expected to issue its ruling in the case in mid-December.

Six others have also been charged in connection with the attack on Hamraoui, along with Diallo.

In February 2025, prosecutors concluded their investigation but the court case remains officially ongoing.

Al-Hamraoui, a 35-year-old French international, currently plays for Saudi club Al-Hilal and has previously represented Barcelona, Lyon and Saint-Etienne among other clubs.

The hearing was held on Monday in a packed room ahead of another employment dispute involving Paris Saint-Germain and another former player – Kylian Mbappé.
