Celebrities: Are they just like us? In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kim Kardashian – who was studying to become a lawyer – discussed her “toxic” friendship with ChatGPT, and admitted that she failed her law exams after he told her false information.
βI use [ChatGPT] “For legal advice, so when I need to know the answer to a question, I’ll take a picture and put it there,” she said. “They’re always wrong. He made me fail tests…and then I’ll get angry and yell at me and say, ‘You made me fail!’
ChatGPT is prone to hallucinations, which means that LLM will sometimes create fake answers, rather than admit that it cannot confidently respond to the prompt. This technology is not necessarily programmed to know what information is βcorrectβ or not β rather, it is trained on a massive, unfathomable pile of data and asked to predict the most likely response to an input, which may not be factually accurate. Some lawyers have been penalized for using ChatGPT when writing legal briefs, which becomes apparent to those reviewing the briefs, because they cite cases that do not exist.
Kardashian said she would try to appeal to ChatGPT’s feelings after he let her down β but that’s a futile plan, since ChatGPT has no feelings.
“I’ll talk to her and say, ‘Hey, you’re setting me up to fail, how does that make you feel like you really need to know these answers?'” she said. “And then he’ll say to me, ‘This is just teaching you to trust your instincts.'”
But even though ChatGPT may not have feelings, that doesn’t mean we humans don’t have feelings on He – she.
“I take a screenshot all the time and send it to my group chat, like, ‘Can you believe this b– are you talking to me like this?’
