📌 **What You’ll Learn**:
Rotherham United, struggling in the English Premier League, announced the appointment of former Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City coach Lee Clarke on a contract until the end of the season.
The 53-year-old replaces Matt Hamshaw after he was sacked earlier on Wednesday following the Millers’ 5-0 defeat to Peterborough on Tuesday.
Clarke has been unable to work in England since his spell with non-league Blyth Spartans ended in March 2020.
His last training periods were in Sudan and Oman, and he was out of the game for four years.
The appointment comes as an even greater surprise given what the former Newcastle and Fulham midfielder posted on his Instagram account, external In December 2023 he will retire from football management.
He said at the time that his “full focus” was on Newcastle and his son Bobby Clarke, who is on loan at Derby County after joining Liverpool’s academy.
His first match for the South Yorkshire side, which sits in 22nd place, six points from safety, will be against League One leaders Lincoln City on Saturday.
