Huddersfield are the seventh team in the league to change their manager this season.
Grant’s sacking means Carlos Corberan in the 2021-22 season remains the last Terriers coach to lead the club for a full season.
Since the Spaniard’s exit, seven managers have come and gone at West Yorkshire.
Grant arrived at Huddersfield in the summer after three years in Kieran McKenna’s coaching staff at Ipswich.
The former Derby, Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke goalkeeper has reshaped a side that finished as low as 10th last season.
Birmingham striker Alfie May was signed for upwards of £1m, while experienced Championship players Jack Watmough, Ryan Ledson and Linden Gooch were also brought in.
That recruitment drive and the ambitions of American owner Nagle have backed the club as pre-season promotion favorites and they started the season in style with a 3-0 home win over last season’s play-off finalists Leyton Orient.
They finished third when they traveled to local rivals Bradford City on September 13, but were beaten 3-1 at Valley Parade and have not climbed that level since.
Although they have spent most of the season inside or outside the top six, they are now 16 points behind leaders Cardiff, having played a game more.
They host the third-placed Bantams next Saturday and are looking to end a four-game winless run.
