Leicester, who appointed Gary Rowett as their new coach on Wednesday, have yet to comment on his appeal.
But when the points deduction was announced, the club described it as “disproportionate”.
The statement read: “Although the committee’s findings significantly reduce the unprecedented scale of the penalty originally sought by the Premier League, the recommendation remains disproportionate and does not adequately reflect the mitigating factors provided, the importance of which cannot be overstated given the potential impact on our sporting ambitions this season.”
Under the PSR system, Premier League clubs cannot lose more than £105m over three years, but the figure falls by £22m for each season a club spends outside the Premier League.
Leicester’s accounts for the period ending 30 June 2024 showed a loss of £19.4 million.
In their accounts for the 2022-23 season, Leicester confirmed a loss of £89.7m, while in the 12 months to May 2022, they lost a club record £92.5m.
These figures do not take into account “add-on” costs, such as building infrastructure and investing in women’s football, which the Premier League and the EFL consider to be in the overall interests of clubs.
