📌 Here’s what you’ll learn:

Sam Rivers, guitarist and backing vocalist for the American nu-metal band Limp Bizkit, has died at the age of 48, the band announced.

Limp Bizkit announced the death in a social media post, calling Rivers the “heartbeat” of the band but not revealing where Rivers died or the circumstances. “Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat,” the band wrote.

“Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player – he was a pure magician. The pulse under every song, the calm in the chaos, and the soul in the sound.”

“From the first note we played together, Sam brought a light and rhythm that can never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, and his heart enormous.”

Fred Durst, the band’s frontman and lead singer, posted a video on Sunday morning in which he recounted how they met at a club in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and how they reached musical stardom and performing around the world. Durst said he has shed “gallons and gallons of tears since yesterday.”

“He has already had an impact on the world and it is his music and talent that will continue to give,” Durst said. “I just love him so much.”

Rivers’ cause of death has not been revealed.

Rivers, 48, spoke about excessive drinking, which caused liver disease. He left the band in 2015 and underwent a liver transplant before reuniting with Limp Bizkit three years later.

Durst said he and Rivers shared a love of grunge music, and named bands Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots.

“He had this kind of ability to bring out this beautiful sadness out of the bass that I’d never heard before,” Durst said, describing Rivers as “so talented I can’t explain it.”

Formed in Jacksonville in 1994, Limp Bizkit rose to fame in the late 1990s with their eclectic, heavy sound that blended influences of metal, hip-hop, and punk.

They achieved mainstream success with their albums Significant Other (1999) and Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000), which topped the charts in the United States.

Their off-beat sense of humor is reflected in the titles of their 2000 best-selling album, “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water,” and in last month’s single, “Making Love to Morgan Wallen.”

Rivers was one of the founding members of the band, along with vocalist Fred Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland, and turntable DJ Lethal.

“Be calm bro. Your music never ends,” they said in an Instagram post.

DJ Lethal added in a comment below the band’s post: “We are in shock. Rest in power brother! You will live on through your music and the lives you helped save through your music, your charity work and your friendships. We are heartbroken 💔 Enjoy every split second of life. This is not guaranteed.”

Limp Bizkit has scheduled a tour of Central and South America to begin in Mexico City in late November.
