American Lindsey Vonn secured her third podium finish in four World Cup races by finishing third in the downhill in Val d’Isère on Saturday.

The 41-year-old, who last week became the oldest female downhill World Cup winner, claimed her 141st World Cup podium.

Vonn, who had not raced in the French Alpine resort for eight years, crossed the finish line in 1 minute 41.89 seconds – 0.35 seconds ahead of Austrian winner Cornelia Hitter, with Germany’s Kira Weidel-Winkelmann second.

Vonn retired from the sport in February 2019 due to injury and returned to competition in December 2024 after a partial knee replacement.

With 48 days to go until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which take place from February 6-22, Vonn will be hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has collected during her 20-year career.

She already has two gold medals and two bronze Olympic medals to her name and is on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games.

Saturday’s event was part of this season’s World Cup campaign, with nine races taking place before the finals in Kvitville in Norway on March 21, 2026. The Val d’Isère round concludes on Sunday with the Super-G race.
