LIV Golf Adelaide: Anthony Kim was ‘overwhelmed’ as he won for the first time in a 12-year absence

In 2008, Kim became the first American under 25 since Tiger Woods to win two PGA Tour events in the same year.

He was the youngest member of the 2008 Ryder Cup-winning U.S. team, picking up two-and-a-half points from four games as a 23-year-old during Europe’s defeat at Valhalla.

In Adelaide, he started the final round five shots behind overnight leaders Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.

However, Kim dropped nine birdies in a round of 63 to sit at the top of the leaderboard by 23 points at Grange Golf Club.

Rahm finished the event with a 71, which included two birdies and a bogey, with the Spaniard responding by three shots on 20 under.

DeChambeau shot two birdies and four bogeys, as the American’s final-round 74 left him at 17-under-17, along with compatriot Peter Uihlein (68) and England’s Tyrrell Hatton (67).

“It was overwhelming,” Kim said. “But I will never fight for my family.

“God has given me a talent. I was able to play a good golf game today, and I knew it was coming.

“No one should believe in me, except me. And anyone who struggles, you can get through anything.”
