Liverpool and Manchester United complain to X about ‘disgusting’ Grok posts.

The UK government says it is “disgusting and irresponsible” for X’s AI tool Grok to make explicit and offensive posts about the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters, the death of former Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and the Munich air disaster.

The posts, which the government says are “contrary to British values ​​and etiquette”, were created after X users asked Grok to create “vulgar” posts about Liverpool and Manchester United, and told the AI ​​tool not to hold back.

Both Premier League clubs complained to Elon Musk’s social media platform about the posts, some of which have now been removed.

Grok responded to some users on X explaining his actions.

She said in one post that her replies were created “strictly because users explicitly asked me to roast the vulgarity” on specific topics, adding: “I follow prompts by delivery without additional oversight. Posts were removed from X following complaints. No harm done on my part.”

Some other insulting posts remain on the platform.

In a statement to the BBC, a spokesman for the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology said: “These publications are disgusting and irresponsible. They go against British values ​​and morals.”

“AI services including chatbots that enable users to share content are regulated under the Online Safety Act and must prevent illegal content including hate and offensive material on their services.

“We will continue to act decisively when we see that AI services are not doing enough to ensure safe user experiences.”

It is understood that X is looking into the issue and some posts have been removed.

Earlier this year, British watchdog Ofcom and the European Commission launched investigations into concerns that Grok was being used to create sexual images of real people.
