As the final whistle blew at Anfield, A Negative draw Against Leeds United drew some boos from the home support sections.
It was the first time Liverpool had drawn 0-0 under Arne Slott, and the first such result in 117 matches in all competitions, since December 2023 against Manchester United.
Liverpool were unbeaten and Slot’s side extended their unbeaten run to eight games. But after a largely boring show, it showed a fanbase sharing their frustrations.
Too often this season, Liverpool have been a difficult team to watch.
It is no exaggeration to say that Anfield fans have been spoiled over the past decade from the Jurgen Klopp era to Slott winning the title in his first year at the club.
Standards are very high and rightly so for a club of this size, but against a Leeds side who were promoted to the Premier League last season, Liverpool looked one-dimensional and lacked the quality to break down the visitors and their 5-4-1 formation.
Par Jeremy Frimpong, who had the pace to get past some Leeds players with ease but perhaps lacked that final delivery, and there were a few moments that had fans rising from their seats.
This was not the start to the new year that Liverpool, Slott or the Anfield fans would have liked.
One BBC Sport reader summed up the sentiment of the fanbase in our live text.
“Liverpool still looks like there’s a piece missing,” said Ray’s Jan.
“This isn’t a heavy metal football, this isn’t even a foil football.”
