Liverpool have signed Republic of Ireland midfielder Denis O’Sullivan on a permanent deal from North Carolina Courage.
The midfielder had a year remaining on her contract with North Carolina State, but Liverpool are believed to have paid a club record fee of £300,000.
The 31-year-old has plenty of experience having made 128 international appearances for her country since making her debut in 2011.
She has represented clubs in the United States, Australia, Scotland and England, as well as her native Ireland.
O’Sullivan played more than 150 games for the North Carolina Courage of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) over nine years, most recently as club captain.
Liverpool’s long-term project and its facilities at Melwood are believed to have been a major attraction for O’Sullivan, who has attracted interest from several clubs.
“It means a lot. It’s a very proud moment for me and for my family as well, who are now just 40 minutes away by plane,” O’Sullivan said.
“It’s a big club and I think when you join a big club like Liverpool it comes with a big responsibility and I can’t wait to be able to work and give 100% every day.”
