Australian Hannah Green won the LPGA Women’s World Championship in Singapore after her husband took over as her caddy.
With Green unable to leave the US while he applies for a green card, her husband Jared Felton – a professional golfer – filled the role for the second time this year.
Green (29 years old) scored 69 points with three goals under par on Sunday, finishing one shot ahead of American Auston Kim and winning this title for the second time.
She married Felton in 2024 and was also pregnant with her husband in the past.
“It’s been a team effort over the past two weeks, and it’s very special to share my seventh win, which is also my favorite number, with him,” Green said.
“My usual holder is applying for a green card and couldn’t leave the US, so that wasn’t part of the season plan. Fortunately, my husband was able to pick up the bag for me.”
Green started the day tied for the lead with three-time major champion Minjee Lee, but took control with an early birdie followed by an eagle on the eighth hole.
Green sank three more birdies in her last nine and, despite a nervous finish after birdying the final two holes, finished with a 14-under total to win this tournament for the second time in three years, having triumphed in 2024.
“I was feeling nervous and told Jared several times that I wasn’t comfortable. He reminded me to take a deep breath, eat a snack, or even drink some water,” she said.
“I haven’t played with that kind of adrenaline in a long time, and we handled it really well.”
England’s Charlie Hull, Mimi Rhodes and Lottie Wood all finished tied for 10th on six under.
