Many are now touting him as a potential long-term successor to defender Dayot Upamecano at Bayern.

Although Upamecano is now expected to sign a contract extension beyond the summer, German newspaper TZ reported this week that Bayern are continuing to monitor Vuckovic.

On Tuesday, former Barcelona and Croatia star Ivan Rakitic urged Bayern to sign the teenager.

“I think he should go to Bayern, but the whole of European football is talking about him at the moment, so they need to move on,” Rakitic told Germany’s Sky Sports.

He added: “I’m interested to see if Tottenham will be able to keep him after the summer, because for me, he’s already ready to take the next step to one of the best clubs ever in Europe, and there are only four or five of those.”

Others are less confident. Legendary German commentator Marcel Reif said this week that he believes the 18-year-old is still too young to make a move to Munich.

“He will feel tired at Bayern,” Reeve told German newspaper Bild.

Voskovic insists he is in no rush to make a decision.

“In football, you never know what will happen. Right now, I’m focusing on HSV and we’ll see next summer after the World Cup,” he said on Saturday.

If there’s one thing that might keep him in Hamburg, it’s the chance to play alongside his older brother Mario.

Five years his senior, Mario Vuckovic has been at Hamburg since 2021, but is currently serving a three-and-a-half-year ban after testing positive for doping in 2022.

Although the player and the club have always protested his innocence, several courts have upheld his ban and it remains in place until November 2026.

The two brothers are very close: Luca has a picture of himself and Mario tattooed on his arm and is currently wearing his brother’s No. 44 shirt.

In January, he lost his temper during a Hamburg derby match after St. Pauli fans held up banners mocking Mario’s doping ban.

Even on the big club circuit, the 18-year-old has made no secret of his desire to play alongside his brother.

“It is my dream to play with Mario at HSV and I will do everything in my power for that,” he said in an interview with the Hamburg newspaper Abendblatt last December.

He added: “Tottenham knows this, but I am their player and I have a contract with them. We will decide when the moment is right.”
