Littler’s win at the Masters in Milton Keynes moves him level with James Wade on 11 PDC major titles, behind Michael van Gerwen who has 48 and 16-time world champion Taylor who has 79.
Speaking about his post-Masters comments at the launch of the 2026 Premier League, Humphreys admitted he could have phrased his praise of Littler differently.
“I’ve said that right now, but I’m still standing by it, and I’m not going to back down from it,” Humphries said.
“By using the word ‘greatest’, perhaps what I meant was that he is the most talented player of all time.
“Phil has achieved so much, it’s hard not to call him the greatest, so maybe I used the wrong term, but I certainly stand by the fact that I think he (Lettleir) is the most talented darts player of all time.
“Not only his ability to throw good darts, but also his temperament, the way he reacts well under pressure, he has all the qualities.”
Gian van Veen – who lost to Littler in the 2026 World Championship final – feels Littler will remain a dominant force in darts for years to come.
Speaking ahead of his first season in the Premier League, the Dutchman said: “I think Luke Littler will still be on top of the world in five or ten years.
“He’s not an unstoppable guy, but he hasn’t shown a lot of signs that he can be stopped.”
