Since his arrival in July, Geiglertz has done more than just introduce an energetic, high-pressing style of football – he has reshaped the team’s mentality.
“I think it’s very important that we have so many good players,” he told the BBC. “They’ve been through a lot of different things in their career, they have a lot of knowledge and they’ve won a lot with this team.
“To bring everyone together so everyone feels we are part of it, it’s not just about the head coach’s ideas and his role. We’re trying to build something so everyone feels that this is Manchester City and this is our team. Maybe that’s the only thing that caused it.”
City’s fluid, attacking football may have faltered in the last two games, but they have recorded big wins over West Ham and Everton.
“Everton made them earn every ounce of that win,” former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Fiennes said after Sunday’s 2-1 win.
“If you want to go on and win a title, you can go back to games like this which you could have easily slipped into if you weren’t as disciplined as Manchester City.
“So, perhaps the victory was not as comprehensive as the spectators thought, but it is a very valuable victory,” he added.
White added: “They had to get the job done. They had to get three points and take advantage of Chelsea losing points to Arsenal.”
