Manchester City Defender Jusko Gvardiol will undergo surgery later this week after fracturing his tibia during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with its hosts in the Premier League. Chelsea.
Croatian international player Gvardiol (23 years old) was withdrawn after 51 minutes of the Chelsea match, while his fellow centre-back Ruben Dias also left injured after half an hour.
City said in a statement that it was still trying to “ascertain the full extent” of Gvardiol’s injury and expected recovery time.
Meanwhile, City have recalled academy product Max Allen from his loan spell at Watford, and he could feature in the squad for Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Brighton.
The 20-year-old – the son of former England cricketer and current Gloucestershire coach Mark Allen – has made 17 appearances for the Hornets after joining on a season-long loan.
But with England centre-back John Stones currently sidelined, that deal has been terminated as Pep Guardiola’s side, who are exploring a January move for Crystal Palace captain Mark Guehi, attempt to address a growing injury crisis in defence.
