✅ Here’s what you’ll learn:

Guardiola knew that Arsenal were building a team capable of chasing the championship. He’s waiting to see if they have the stamina to continue their fast start.

“In the last two or three years, after the process of rebuilding the club and the team, Arsenal has been there. What they are doing for two or three seasons is exceptional,” Guardiola said.

“But it’s early November. Nobody wins the title in early November. You can lose it, but nobody wins it.

“I know how quickly things can change. One week ago Liverpool were a disaster, a disaster and now they’ve won two and the question is: Are they back to their best?”

“I’m sure the managers have a bit more perspective on the situation.

“Always in season there are ups and downs.”

Liverpool manager Slott is equally convinced that there can be ups and downs in the title race, but the importance of this match cannot be escaped or downplayed.

“Right now, it’s not about looking at the league table,” Slott said. “It’s just trying to win as many games as possible and give yourself the best possible position.

“But certainly two very good teams will play against each other and we will see what the future brings.

“Our only focus is ourselves. We have to constantly improve, get the players fit and then see where that leads.

“City are a game in themselves. Playing away from home against them is one of the toughest challenges we face all season. These are the games everyone looks forward to.”

Slott’s return to his title-winning midfield of Ryan Gravenberch, Alex McAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai has given Liverpool a more familiar look, having won their last two games against Aston Villa and Real Madrid, with Hungarian Szoboszlai as a key figure.

“Dominic has been fantastic all season, but the last two games have brought more into and out of the team,” Slott said. “I really like his work off the ball, but in these games he has probably been above his high standards.”

If Liverpool can win the midfield battle at the Etihad Stadium, they will believe they can thrive – but an improved Manchester City will feel equally confident.

The stage is set for the latest Titanic battle.
