Marcus Rashford is hoping to stay at Barcelona when his loan deal from Manchester United expires in the summer.
Barcelona have the option to sign the England striker permanently for £28m, a lower fee than United’s £40m demand from any other club.
The 27-year-old’s United contract runs until 2028, but it appears he has no future at Old Trafford while Ruben Amorim takes charge of the team.
“Absolutely,” Rashford told ESPN when asked if he wanted to stay in Spain.
“I enjoy this football club and I think that for anyone who loves football, Barcelona is one of the main clubs in the history of the game. For a player, this is a great honour.”
Rashford spent the second half of last season at Aston Villa, where his career was revived under Unai Emery.
He raised his tally of goals to five in 12 matches for Barcelona thanks to a brace against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Rashford, who is set to play in his first Clásico against Real Madrid this weekend, believes he is benefiting from a change of scenery.
“People forget that, but 23 years of my life were spent with Manchester United. So sometimes you just need a change. I think that’s the case with me and I enjoy everything.”
