Manchester United have signed German international Lea Schuler from Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old, who is under contract until June 2029, becomes the club’s second signing in the January transfer window following the arrival of full-back Hannah Lundqvist.
The experienced striker spent five years at Bayern, making more than 100 appearances and helping them win four league titles.
She has scored 54 goals in 82 appearances for Germany and was part of the team that finished runner-up to England at Euro 2022, as well as winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics.
“From the first conversations I had with her [manager] Mark [Skinner] “The club, everyone’s ambitions were very clear,” Schuller said.
I still have a lot to achieve in my career, and I know that Manchester United is the perfect club to join.
“I feel the team’s style of football will really suit mine. I hope my qualities and experience will help us achieve our goals in England and in the Champions League.”
Matt Johnson, Director of Women’s Football at Manchester United, said: “Leah’s goalscoring record is exceptional, and her style of play will give our attack an exciting new dimension. We are delighted to add a player of her pedigree to the group.”
“Leah’s winning mentality and experience will really help our young and ambitious squad as we continue to grow together and compete across domestic and European competitions.”
United will be hoping to keep busy in the transfer window as manager Skinner looks to bolster his squad for the knockout stages of the Women’s Champions League.
They have already agreed to extend the contract of key midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has agreed to stay until the summer of 2029.
