Mark Guehi: Manchester City agrees with Crystal Palace to include the England centre-back

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was asked about the club’s interest in Guehi during his press conference on Friday, but the Spaniard closed the question with “he has nothing to say.”

Meanwhile, Glassner said: “My understanding is that the deal with Mark is in the final stages.” The Austrian then added that Guehi would not be in the squad to face Sunderland in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Earlier this month, Glassner said the Eagles would sell Guehi in January if the asking price was met.

Guehi led Palace to their first major trophy in the FA Cup final against City in May, as well as winning the Community Shield over Liverpool earlier this season.

He looked set to join Arne Slot’s side on 1 September, but the £35m deal fell through in the final hours of transfer deadline day, with Guehi already beginning his medical.

Guehi became a regular in the England national team after joining Palace from Chelsea in 2021, and was a key player in the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2024 final.

Croatian international player Gvardiol, 23 years old, recently underwent surgery after breaking his leg bone during the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, while Portuguese centre-back Dias, 28 years old, will be absent for between four and six weeks due to a hamstring injury.

City will face Manchester United in the derby at Old Trafford in the English Premier League on Saturday.
