Mark Zuckerberg texted Elon Musk to offer him help with DOGE

While the relationship between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg was prickly enough that Musk challenged Zuckerberg to a cage fight, things improved in the early days of Trump’s second administration — at least according to court documents published Friday.

As reported by Engadget, these text messages between Zuckerberg and Musk were released as part of Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI. It was sent on February 3, 2025, around the time Zuckerberg appeared on Joe Rogan’s show to complain that corporate America was becoming “weakened.”

Referring to Musk’s aggressive efforts to shrink government through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Zuckerberg texted, “DOGE appears to be making progress. We’ve put our teams on alert to remove content that insults or threatens people on your team. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help.”

Musk responded with a heart emoji, then asked: “Are you open to the idea of ​​bidding on OpenAI with me and others?”

In response, Meta’s CEO suggested discussing the idea over the phone. According to previously released documents, Zuckerberg has not actually signed up to join Musk’s show.
