Two-time British skeleton world champion Matt Weston has won his first World Cup race of 2026 to continue his impressive form into the Olympic season.

The 29-year-old set a record of 2 minutes and 15.67 seconds in his second round in St. Moritz to secure his fourth gold medal in five races this season.

He also set a record start time of 4.75 seconds, while the combined time of his two laps put him nearly a second and a half ahead of second-placed Italian Amedeo Bagnis.

The event was scheduled to be held in Winterberg, Germany, at the weekend, but was rescheduled due to bad weather and moved to Switzerland.

“It’s amazing to be back racing and giving 100% after the injury,” said Weston, who is continuing his return to full fitness after suffering a serious tear in his quadriceps.

“The race was good: I know I still have things to clean but I was very happy with the overall feeling. We worked on a few different things leading up to the Cortina [the Olympics] So it was good to see that come out well.”
