Mauricio Ruffi: “Don’t try to ride my husband’s wave”

Charles Oliveira’s wife, Vitoria Broome, decided to take matters into her own hands when she came to her husband’s recent defense in the UFC.

Oliveira won the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway at UFC 326. However, the style of victory did not resemble the BMF style as he battled the American for most of the five rounds.

That didn’t sit well with another Brazilian, Mauricio Roffey. The UFC star didn’t think this was the right way to do it:

“Standing and trading and all that. He did what no one could have imagined, which was winning from start to finish. … If you go out there just to grab someone and hold them, in the UFC business, you end up losing opportunities. Charles put up an unbelievable fight, but certainly not even the UFC would want to see him hold on.” [Conor McGregor] For three rounds, Conor hasn’t put himself in that position either.

However, Prom came to her husband’s defense and attacked Rufi:

“Then let’s schedule a boxing match because if you want to fight, in fucking MMA, there’s going to be jiu-jitsu.”

Broome responded on social media and added more to her response on Instagram (H/t MMA Fighting):

“Rafi, don’t try to ride my husband’s wave because with the amount of submission he has, you don’t get into a lot of fights.”

Mauricio Ruffi claims the comments have been misunderstood

The Fighting Nerds star later spoke with Ag.Fight and offered to clarify previous comments towards Charles Oliveira.

Mauricio Roffey claimed he did not express himself the right way and took back a comment in which he said Oliveira was rocked late in the fight by Max Holloway.

He also went on to say that he is a big fan of Oliveira and does not want to face the Brazilian:

“Unless it’s something that’s bound to happen, but I’ll avoid it [Fighting Oliveira] In every possible way because I don’t want that fight. I really like Charles. I’ve even been watching videos of him on the farm with the horses. So, if I ever gave that impression, that’s not what I really meant.
