Meta is laying off several hundred employees across multiple teams, including its sales and recruiting division and its Reality Labs division, according to The Information and Bloomberg.
The cuts will impact employees in the U.S. and other international markets. Bloomberg reported that some of these employees will be offered other jobs or the opportunity to move to remain with the company.
“Teams across Meta regularly restructure or implement changes to ensure they are best positioned to achieve their goals,” a Meta spokesperson said in an email to TechCrunch. “Where possible, we find other opportunities for employees whose jobs may be affected.”
The cuts will affect fewer than 1,000 employees. Meta employed approximately 79,000 people at the end of 2025.
The layoffs come as Meta invests billions of dollars in artificial intelligence. The company expects to reach a record level of capital expenditures this year, ranging between $115 billion and $135 billion.
These layoffs mark the second time Meta has reduced its workforce in 2026. In January, Meta laid off 10% of its employees in its Reality Labs division. The cuts affect nearly 1,000 employees, out of a total workforce of about 15,000 at Reality Labs, the New York Times reported.
