✅ Key idea:

Mayer reaffirmed her lifelong goal of becoming undisputed champion after her second successive win over Britain’s Sandy Ryan earlier this year.

She was hoping to face Welsh Lauren Price, the WBC welterweight champion, in an undisputed fight.

That match failed largely due to promotional and broadcast issues.

If a fight with Price – who is expected to return to action in the UK in December – doesn’t materialize next for Mayer, she could pursue her undisputed light middleweight status against IBF champion Oshae Jones.

“The most important thing is that I have options,” Mayer said.

“I would like to do both – get back to 147 pounds uncontested, then come back and defend at 154 pounds.”

There could also be a potential superfight against Claressa Shields, the self-proclaimed “Greatest Woman of All Time” and undisputed three-weight world champion, who currently holds two heavyweight titles.

American Shields, currently a free agent, is attracting interest from several promoters, including Most Valuable Promotions, co-founded by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bedarian.

If Shields moves up to super middleweight, Mayer — even though she is not a natural welterweight — said she would gladly meet her there.
