Why did you get into comedy?
I was told that the only copy of the map of the lost city of Paititi Gold was hidden in the green room toilet (i.e. the sink) of a comedy club in the UK. Doing stand-up seems to be the best way to get there. I’m still searching.

Where do you find the material?
Woolworths had a decent section for that, but since they closed, I’ve been struggling.

What is one of your favorite gigs ever?
This is a tough one, so I’ll be taking part in any and all gigs at Always Be Comedy (ABC), Kennington, South London (the best comedy club in the land) or any and all gigs at the Machynlleth Comedy Festival (the best comedy festival in the land). No doubt most of your readers will want an Exeter-specific recommendation, in which case, please allow me to point them in the direction of Local Sourced at the Little Drop of Poison on Fore Street which happens (almost) every Tuesday night. It’s a wonderful, chaotic night of new material, new acts and strange experiments, all curated by the impeccable Will Adamsdale.

Any pre-show rituals?
Nothing much really. Just the usual one leg dance followed by ear candling followed by soda self pop followed by ironing the shirts of the nearest bishop followed by shouting into an empty crisp packet (cheese and onions) followed by Duolingo if there is time.

Can you remember a party that was so bad, it’s now so funny?
High levels of empathy failure in this question.

Best structure?
Non-verbal. If by “best” you mean “most effective”: An RAF officer at an airbase display didn’t like what he saw, so he sounded the fire alarm. Game, set and match. Can’t blame him. We were young and reckless and making a sketch about Queen Mum without considering what the ‘R’ in the RAF stood for. Since that time, none of the parade’s participants have been awarded a knighthood, a dame, or even the Order of the Garter. coincidence?

What inspired your latest presentation, The seat?
seat.

I promised the fans that they didn’t need anything Previous seating experience. How is your relationship with them?
Very personal and impossible to answer briefly. However, those who come to see the show will see me wearing my seat on my sleeve.

What’s the last thing that made you laugh?
my sister. Private joke. Suz.

Worst advice you’ve ever been given?
“Try pouring red wine on it.”

Best advice you can give?
Maybe things aren’t as bad as you think (but they might be).

What are you working on at the moment?
Leaky roof.
