Preston North End have banned Milutin Osmajic for nine matches after he was accused of racially abusing Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri.

The incident occurred during Preston’s goalless draw with Burnley last February, and the 26-year-old will miss the match against Stoke City on Boxing Day.

The Montenegrin player was also fined £21,000.

Osmajic, who “vehemently refuted” and denied the allegations, was charged by the Football Association in March and a hearing was held in September.
