Perhaps most telling of all, on a bitterly cold afternoon against St Mirren, more than 7,000 supporters turned out wearing dark red and amber.
They know these are their dream days.
The smiles from Tuesday’s floor sweep against Celtic still filled ears as positive punters showed up at Fir Park, but many knew their smiles would quickly disappear if the visitors from Paisley were not seen.
Ahead of the match, an unflappable Askew refused to be distracted by the lavish praise his side have received in recent days, focusing instead on the threat of St Mirren, highlighting how they outplayed them at Hampden two months ago.
In fact, it seems his fears never came true.
Although the visitors started offensively, their few forward attacks were fruitless with Wales’ backline not being bothered as they kept a seventh successive clean sheet at home.
Not for the first time this season, once the Motherwell team settled down, they were not bothered at all.
“I have to give all the credit to the players there,” Askew told BBC Scotland after the match.
“We had some problems with St Mirren, so it was a great feeling to get revenge.
“They had a lot of great moments, scored two beautiful goals and created more chances while we were very focused in defence, winning a lot of duels and winning second balls in some critical areas.”
