James Harden set a new record with the Los Angeles Clippers by scoring 55 points during the team’s victory over the Charlotte Hornets 131-116.
The 36-year-old surpassed the Clippers’ previous record of 52 points in a game, which was held by Bob McAdoo and Charles Smith.
Harden’s efforts helped the Clippers improve their record to five wins and 11 losses this season, and he said: “The work that I do individually, I do for the whole team. I just try to find ways to win games.”
Elsewhere in the NBA on Saturday, Nikola Jokic had an impressive individual performance, but the Serbian’s 44 points couldn’t prevent the Denver Nuggets from losing 128-123 to the Sacramento Kings, who ended their eight-game losing streak.
The Detroit Pistons remain atop the Eastern Conference, extending their winning streak to 12 games – their best streak since 2004 – by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks 129-116.
But the Washington Wizards suffered their fourteenth defeat in a row, losing to the Chicago Bulls 121-120.
